Menopause Care: Easing Hot Flushes, Mood and Bone Health

6 September 2026 · 6 min read

Portrait of a woman at midlife

A natural change, not a disease

Menopause is the natural end of menstrual cycles, usually between the ages of 45 and 55. The years around it — perimenopause — are when hormone levels shift, and that is when most symptoms appear.

It is a transition every woman goes through, but that does not mean the harder symptoms have to be endured in silence. Most of them respond well to treatment.

Symptoms that respond to treatment

Symptoms vary widely in how strong they are, but the common ones include:

  • Hot flushes and night sweats.
  • Disturbed sleep and daytime tiredness.
  • Mood changes, irritability or low mood.
  • Vaginal dryness and discomfort.
  • Aches, and — quietly — a faster loss of bone strength.

Why bone health matters most

The drop in oestrogen at menopause speeds up bone loss, which raises the long-term risk of fractures. Because this happens without symptoms, it is easy to ignore — which is exactly why it deserves attention. Adequate calcium and vitamin D, weight-bearing activity, and a review of bone health are simple, protective steps.

What treatment looks like

Many women do well with lifestyle measures, nutrition and reassurance. For troublesome symptoms, there are safe, effective options — chosen carefully based on your symptoms, age and medical history.

The right approach is the one that fits you, discussed openly. At Care and Cure Clinic, menopause care is gentle and unhurried, with attention to both the day-to-day symptoms and long-term health.
